GitHub Copilot CLI
connects locally.

Register a local MCP server in GitHub Copilot CLI's own mcp-config.json and inspect the saved entry with copilot mcp list.

01 / Build once

Prepare the source checkout

npm install
npm run build

Keep the absolute checkout path ready. The published npm package is not available yet; when it ships, this setup will be shorter.

02 / Add the server

~/.copilot/mcp-config.json or trusted repository .mcp.json

copilot mcp add agent-decision-kit -- node /absolute/path/to/agent-decision-kit/dist/cli.js mcp
copilot mcp list

Copilot CLI loads user, workspace, and plugin MCP configuration. User-level servers live under ~/.copilot/mcp-config.json, while VS Code Chat and the CLI use distinct config conventions.

Configuration option

Source-checkout server entry

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "agent-decision-kit": {
      "type": "local",
      "command": "node",
      "args": [
        "/absolute/path/to/agent-decision-kit/dist/cli.js",
        "mcp"
      ],
      "env": {},
      "tools": [
        "*"
      ]
    }
  }
}

03 / Verify

Check the connection

Run `copilot mcp list`, then `copilot mcp get agent-decision-kit` to inspect status and exposed tools.

04 / Try a real workflow

Start with sample data

Ask Copilot CLI to rerank three supplied sample tasks for browser relevance and show the score calibration status.
